Head coach Brad Brownell has added his first commit to the 2024 Clemson men’s basketball class, picking up four-star forward Dallas Thomas on July 10.
The Little Rock, Arkansas native is one of the best prospects who is set to play at Littlejohn Coliseum, being the third highest-ranked prospect in school history with a rating of 0.9746 according to 247Sports Composite. Thomas was ranked No. 64 in the country for the class of 2024, being the No. 11 power forward in the country and the second-best player out of Arkansas.
The 6-foot-7, 180-pound forward chose to come to Clemson over other top schools such as Arkansas, Auburn, Houston and Illinois.
When looking at videos of him now, the newly committed Tiger has all-around talent, showcasing it on both sides of the ball. On the offensive side, Thomas shows a great catch-and-shoot ability, getting lots of success from three-point range. The rising senior also does not show fear of going to the rim as well. On the defensive side, he is a great shot blocker and does a great job of closing out opponents’ shots using his frame, where he gained his nickname “Slim”.
Overall, Thomas has great stretch-four potential, reminding Tiger fans of a similar stretch-four who had success with the Tigers in the past and who has recently left the collegiate level for the NBA: Hunter Tyson.
Brownell hopes to use Thomas as the first of many Clemson commits over the next few months in order to reload for more great winter campaigns in future years to come.
