Clemson’s 2024 Recruiting Class
One of the best things that the Clemson Tigers have done over this past off-season is beginning to reload their arsenal for their 2024 class. With plenty of big splashes this spring and summer, the Tigers have already added two more pieces to this loaded class, one on each side of the ball.
Ronan O’Connell – Offensive Lineman
The first future Tiger on the offensive line to join the 2024 class is three-star recruit, Ronan O’Connell, who committed to Clemson on July 4. O’Connell will most likely play on the interior of the offensive line, and with his addition being the first to Clemson’s 2024 offensive line class it hopes to bring more linemen like O’Connell to Death Valley. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds, the new addition chose the Tigers over top Power Five schools such as Tennessee, Wisconsin and Arkansas.
According to 247Sports Composite, O’Connell is the 37th-ranked offensive lineman in the class and the No. 14 prospect out of the state of Tennessee.
When looking at his highlight tapes from high school. O’Connell presents an incredible amount of strength and a tremendous ability to stuff incoming defenders. Clemson hopes that O’Connell’s commitment allows more dominoes to fall, and have more prospects on the offensive line to join him in 2024.
Darien Mayo – Defensive End
Towards the end of June, the Tigers were able to snag another prospect on the defensive side, adding four-star recruit Darien Mayo to their loaded class next year.
Immediately, what pops out on Darien Mayo is his frame. Standing at 6 foot 7 and weighing 250 pounds, he has plenty of potential to be an incredible defensive end for the Tigers in 2024. A four-star recruit according to 247Sports Composite, Mayo is the No. 23 ranked defensive lineman in his class, and the No. 5 ranked prospect out of his home state of Maryland. The future Tiger made his decision to come to Death Valley on June 22.
Using his incredible frame, Mayo provides explosiveness from the snap, having great speed and being a very physical player that the Tigers will enjoy having in future years to come.
Head coach Dabo Swinney and his team hope that Mayo could join the likes of the Clemson greats that have played on the defensive line over the years.
