On Thursday, Clemson men’s soccer announced its schedule for the upcoming fall 2023 season, with plenty of exciting games coming up at Historic Riggs Field in just a few months.
The Tigers will have three exhibition scrimmages to begin the season with the first two being at home. Clemson will play Wofford on August 12 and Furman on August 15 before traveling to Atlanta to play Georgia State.
Head coach Mike Noonan and his squad will open up the regular season with five straight non-conference home games. The regular season will open on August 24 against UCF and play four other games before going on the road. Most notably, one of the season’s biggest games will be during this stretch on September 1, when the Tigers will face South Carolina in their rivalry game this season at home.
With a game that could be like the Tigers’ 1-0 win over the Gamecocks last fall in Columbia, the game is a must-watch for any Clemson fan in the area.
The Tigers will open up their eight conference games on September 9, where they will travel to South Bend, Indiana for their first away game of the regular season against Notre Dame. The team will also play Wake Forest, NC State and reigning College Cup champions Syracuse away from home. Coming to Historic Riggs Field are Duke, Virginia Tech, Louisville and Boston College.
During this stretch of conference games, the Tigers will also play three other non-conference matches, playing USF away, and Gardner-Webb and Winthrop at home in September and early October.
Clemson has plenty of matches where they have something to prove and could make noise in the ACC standings or even the national standings with great performances. With quality performances against teams Wake Forest, Syracuse, or Duke in the fall, it could propel them into the top of the NCAA.
With the season set to start in a little more than two months, Clemson United will hope to be back at the top of the ACC, and at the top of the collegiate world like they were in 2021.
