NFL 2023 Draft Predictions: Bold Picks for Clemson Tigers Players

With the NFL offseason comes the draft, which sends buzz throughout the entire country with the best college football players being eligible to follow their dream and play as a professional. For seven Clemson Tigers, their name may be called this weekend. Here’s what round I think each Tiger goes and which team will call their name.

Myles Murphy, Defensive End: Seattle Seahawks

Murphy has fallen as of late on boards, being a potential top-10 pick earlier this year. However, since a lingering hamstring injury and not fully participating in the combine, Murphy’s stock has dropped a bit. However, I still see him going first round, being from picks 20-32. Seattle’s biggest need is an edge-rusher, and with a potential prospect like Jalen Carter at their first No. 6 pick, Murphy could fall into their hands at 20, and that’s where I think he goes to help rejuvenate that defense.

Bryan Bresee, Defensive Tackle: New Orleans Saints

Like Murphy, Bresee’s stock has fallen a little bit since the beginning of the mock drafts this season. Despite my belief that he should go in the first round, he certainly has the capability of dropping into the second. I still think the Saints pull the trigger in the first round. With great quickness and run defense, I think the Saints add Bresee to a team that saw many of its defensive linemen leave in the offseason.

Trenton Simpson, Linebacker: Buffalo Bills

Along with Bresee and Murphy, Simpson is another Clemson player that could see the late first round or early second round. However, I feel the Buffalo Bills will take a chance on him, whether it be in their late first or second-round pick. After former Buffalo player Tremaine Edmunds left in free agency, I feel like Simpson could play that spot nicely, with mentors Matt Milano and Von Miller there to help him.

K.J. Henry, Defensive End: San Francisco 49ers

Personally, I see Henry going to a team where he can learn from a superstar’s edge. He has the power and the speed to be an edge with an excellent career, but he is still a raw prospect that might need a little mentorship. I think the third-round pick for the 49ers fits perfectly. Henry can learn from star Nick Bosa and fit into a defense that lost many edges and outside linebackers.

Jordan McFadden, Offensive Lineman: Buffalo Bills

With McFadden evidently moving to guard as he transitions into a professional career, I think will continue to be teammates with Trenton Simpson on the Bills. McFadden is certainly an interesting prospect, with him likely ending up between rounds 3-5. However, with Buffalo needing an interior lineman in the draft, I think he ends up in Orchard Park, NY in the third round, after many notable interior linemen are previously selected before the former Tiger.

Davis Allen, Tight End: Carolina Panthers

With Carolina most likely taking a franchise quarterback with the first overall pick in the draft, why not give him some weapons? Allen is a great pass-catching tight end who I see going in the fourth round to the Panthers. With many different bigger names to go off the board at the TE position in the first round, I think Allen doesn’t go too far from Clemson and lands in Charlotte.

Joseph Ngata, Wide Reciever: Chicago Bears

Ngata certainly has the frame to be a valued deep-threat option in the NFL. The 6-foot-3, 217-pound wideout could be a valuable red-zone threat, but still has a lot to prove. I believe he falls into the seventh round, going to the Chicago Bears. The Bears are rebuilding at the receiver position, and Ngata could fit under D.J. Moore under the depth chart, being another solid deep-threat option for quarterback Justin Fields.
