Clemson secured a dominant 14-5 victory against Georgia Tech in an exciting game, which was the third of a three-game series. The Tigers improved their overall record to 15-10 and their ACC record to 2-4, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 16-8 overall and 5-4 in ACC play.
The scoring started early for the Tigers, as they took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Blake Wright reached on a fielder’s choice, and Caden Grice scored to put Clemson ahead. The Tigers extended their lead in the top of the fifth inning, scoring four runs to make it 5-0. Riley Bertram singled through the right side, Cooper Ingle doubled to right center, and a wild pitch allowed Ingle to score.
Georgia Tech got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Stephen Reid hit an RBI single to right field and Nicholas Romano scored, making it 5-1. But that would be the only run the Yellow Jackets would score until the ninth inning.
Clemson’s offense exploded in the sixth inning, scoring seven runs to make it 12-1. Blake Wright hit a two-run homer to left field, and Cooper Ingle and Will Taylor also had RBI singles. But the highlight of the inning was Caden Grice’s three-run homer to center field, which brought in Taylor Ingle and made it 10-1.
The Tigers added two more runs in the top of the eighth inning, with Grice hitting another two-run homer to right field. Georgia Tech managed to score one run in both the eighth and ninth innings, but it was too little, too late. Clemson’s dominant performance led them to a 14-5 victory.
Caden Grice was the star of the game for the Tigers, hitting a three-run homer and a two-run homer while also earning the win as a pitcher. Grice pitched a career-high-tying 5.0 innings, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out six batters. Georgia Tech starter Jackson Finley suffered the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits in 5.2 innings pitched.
Other standout players for Clemson included Blake Wright, who went 3-for-5 with a homer, double, four RBIs, and two runs. Cooper Ingle also had a strong game, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs, and three runs.
Overall, it was a dominant performance by Clemson, who showed why they are one of the top teams in the ACC. The Tigers’ offense was firing on all cylinders, and their pitching was equally impressive.
