The Clemson Tigers had another dominant performance on Sunday, defeating the Virginia Cavaliers 2-0 at McWhorter Stadium. The Tigers got off to a quick start, scoring two runs in the first inning thanks to hits from Maddie Moore, Valerie Cagle, Caroline Jacobsen, and Alia Logoleo.
With a 2-0 lead, Clemson relied on their ace pitcher Valerie Cagle to shut down Virginia’s offense. Cagle delivered an impressive performance, throwing a complete game and allowing just six hits while striking out four batters. Her efforts earned her the win and improved her record to 13-1 on the season.
Although both teams had six hits, Clemson’s timely hitting and strong pitching proved to be the difference. Logoleo led the Tigers at the plate, going 3-for-3 with an RBI, while the rest of the team added three more hits.
The win extended Clemson’s impressive record to 29-1 on the season and a perfect 6-0 record in the ACC. The team will now head on the road for their first ACC series away from home against Georgia Tech.
Overall, Clemson demonstrated why they are one of the top teams in the country with a dominant sweep of Virginia. With their strong hitting, pitching, and defense, the Tigers will be a tough team to beat as the season continues.
