Tigers Continue to Roll, Extend Winning Streak to Six Games
The Clemson Tigers started off slow against the College of Charleston Cougars but turned it on in the later innings to secure an exciting come-from-behind victory. The sun was shining down on Doug Kingsmore Stadium as the two teams battled it out in a thrilling matchup.
In the top of the third, the Cougars got on the board with a single to left field by Baumhofer, scoring Cam Dean. They added another run later in the inning to make it a 2-0 lead.
But the Tigers didn’t give up. In the sixth inning, Cooper Ingle doubled to left center, scoring Cam Cannarella and cutting the lead to 2-1. The Cougars responded with another run in the seventh inning, but Clemson continued to fight.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Tigers scored three runs on four hits, taking the lead thanks in part to an error by the Cougars. Clemson fans were on their feet as the game ended on a groundout with a 4-3 putout. The final score was 4-3 in favor of the home team.
Despite a controversial call earlier in the game, the Tigers showed resilience and determination, ultimately earning the win. Cooper Ingle was named player of the game with a solid performance at the plate, going 2-4 with two doubles.
It was another impressive outing for the Clemson Tigers on the mound, as Nick Hoffmann and Jackson Lindley combined with 5 other pitchers to secure the team’s sixth straight victory. Hoffmann came in as a reliever and earned the win, improving his record to 2-1 on the season. He showed great poise and control, giving the Tigers the boost they needed to stay in the game. Lindley, on the other hand, was dominant in the ninth inning, pitching a flawless frame to record his second save of the year. It was a great performance by both pitchers, showcasing the depth and talent of Clemson’s bullpen. On the other side of the diamond, William Privette suffered the loss for the opposing team. Although he gave it his all, it wasn’t enough to stop the Tigers’ winning streak.
The victory was a great way for Clemson to prepare for their upcoming ACC opener this weekend against the Duke Blue Devils. The Tigers will be looking to continue their winning ways in the three-game series, which begins Friday night at 7pm at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on ACC Network Extra.
Overall, it was a fantastic game with plenty of drama and excitement. The Clemson faithful can be proud of their team’s never-say-die attitude and their ability to come back from behind. Here’s hoping for more thrilling victories in the future!
