Clemson’s Brad Brownell to Return for 14th Season as Head Basketball Coach

Clemson’s Athletic Director Graham Neff announced on Monday that Brad Brownell will remain the head basketball coach for the upcoming 14th season, despite missing the NCAA Tournament this year. Neff expressed his enthusiasm to continue planning for the future of the Tigers basketball program.

This year marks the first time an ACC team with a .700 conference winning percentage or better has not received an at-large bid since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985. Nevertheless, the Tigers set a school record for a single season with 14 conference wins.

With an overall record of 23-10, Brownell’s Tigers will have a chance to continue playing in the National Invitational Tournament as a 1-seed and host Ohio Valley Conference regular-season champion Morehead State on Wednesday (7 p.m./ESPN+). While missing the NCAA Tournament is a setback for the program, Brownell will use this as motivation to build on this year’s success and take Clemson back to the NCAA Tournament next season.
