Coach Eason Motivates Clemson Football Players On and Off Field

As I sat down in the Smart Family Media Center to listen to Clemson Football’s Defensive Line Coach Nick Eason, I couldn’t help but notice his impressive transformation. He had lost over 60 pounds and was now in the best shape of his life. Naturally, the first question was, “Coach Eason, what motivated you to lose all this weight?”

Coach Eason chuckled before revealing that he had been an emotional eater. He used to indulge in unhealthy foods whenever he felt stressed or overwhelmed. However, as he got older, he realized that he needed to make a change to lead a healthy lifestyle.

“I changed my eating habits and started working out at The Junkyard which is owned by former Clemson linebacker, Ben Boulware,” said Coach Eason. “I also participated in mat drills with players, which was a spur-of-the-moment decision. But it turned out to be a significant factor in my weight loss journey.”

Coach Eason has lost 62 pounds so far and only has 38 pounds left to lose to reach his goal of shedding 100 pounds. While he is proud of his progress, he knows that he still has a long way to go. But he is determined to continue living a healthy lifestyle and inspiring others to do the same.

As we shifted our conversation to football, Coach Eason shared his plans for the team’s personal development. He emphasized the importance of working on technique and fundamental skills to improve the players’ overall performance on the field.

“I demand greatness from my players,” said Coach Eason. “I want them to be the best they can be and strive for excellence every day.”

Coach Eason’s dedication and hard work have paid off, as two of his star players, Tyler Davis and Ruke Orhorhoro, have decided to come back for another season. When asked about his role in their decision, Coach Eason humbly stated that he had a small role in motivating them.

“Tyler and Ruke are phenomenal players, and I am thrilled to have them back on the team,” said Coach Eason. “But I was shocked when T. Davis and Ruk decided to return. I thought Breese was going to come back, but you never know what these guys are thinking.”

Coach Eason is confident in the team’s abilities and believes that they have the best depth in the nation. He is excited to work with Tyler Davis, who is a graduate senior from Apopka, Florida, playing in the defensive tackle position. He plans to work on his eyes, hand, and footwork to make him an even better player.

“Tyler outworks everyone on the field, and I can’t wait to see him grow and develop even more,” said Coach Eason.

“Ruke has incredible potential, and I am confident that he will continue to improve and succeed,” said Coach Eason.
