CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers pulled off a 5-3 victory over the Presbyterian Blue Hose at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Wednesday, thanks in large part to an impressive pitching performance and key hits from the offense.
The Tigers’ four pitchers combined for a total of 15 strikeouts, with freshman Nathan Dvorsky making an impressive debut by earning the win with two hitless and scoreless innings in relief and striking out three batters. Casey Tallent pitched the final two innings to record his first career save. The Blue Hose’s Logan Ymker suffered the loss.

The game started with a bang as Joel Dragoo hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning to give Presbyterian the lead. But the Tigers quickly responded with a run-scoring single from Riley Bertram in the bottom of the second to tie the score. With two outs in the inning, Bryar Hawkins Cannarella hit a clutch two-run double to give Clemson a 3-1 lead.
Presbyterian fought back with two runs in the third inning, courtesy of Jack Gorman’s two-out double that tied the score at 3-3. However, the Tigers regained the lead in the sixth inning when Cannarella hit an RBI groundout. They then doubled their lead in the seventh inning when Billy Amick came up with a two-out, run-scoring single.
Cannarella, who extended his hitting streak to 13 games earlier in the game, was a key contributor to the Tigers’ offense once again. His two-run double in the second inning and RBI groundout in the sixth inning were crucial in securing the victory for Clemson.
With this win, the Tigers improved their record to 7-6, while the Blue Hose dropped to 7-6. Clemson will now look to continue their winning ways as they host Georgia State in a three-game series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, starting on Friday at 4 p.m. on ACC Network Extra. Fans will surely be excited to see if the Tigers can build on their momentum and secure another victory against their upcoming opponent.
