The Lady Tigers Softball team put up huge numbers in three categories today with the first being Valerie Cagle reaching 600 strikeouts in a career, next was 17 hits in a game, then to top it all off was 18 runs while shutting out Mercer to record the Tigers first perfect game of the season.
Cagle’s Perfect Game Performance
The Tigers’ right-handed pitcher, Valerie Cagle, delivered an outstanding performance, retiring all 15 batters she faced, including eight strikeouts, for a five-inning perfect game. She threw just 51 pitches with 40 strikes and never reached a three-ball count during the contest. Cagle also eclipsed 600 career strikeouts with the performance, pushing her career total to 604.
Clemson Tigers’ Dominant Offense
The Clemson Tigers’ offense was on full display in the game, with six Tigers recording multi-hit games. Maddie Moore finished the night going 2-for-4 with three RBIs, three runs scored, and two home runs. Reedy Davenport and Alia Logoleo each recorded four RBIs on the night.
Maddie Moore’s Home Runs
Maddie Moore delivered an outstanding performance, launching her fifth home run of the year over the right-field fence to put the Tigers up 1-0 with one out in the first. Moore smashed her second home run of the day to put the Tigers up 7-0.
Alia Logoleo’s Impressive Batting
Reedy Davenport and Alia Logoleo also delivered impressive performances, recording four RBIs each on the night. Davenport picked up her fourth RBI of the day with a two-out single to push the lead to 18-0.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action this weekend for the Clemson Classic facing UNCG on Friday at 1:30pm. Then play a double header on Saturday vs Bryant and Jacksonville, ending with a 1st vs 2nd and 3rd vs 4th games Sunday.
