Clemson Softball came out strong in their recent two-game series against Gardner Webb, winning both games with dominant performances from their players.
In Game 1, Clemson shut out Gardner Webb, winning 8-0 in a shortened five-inning game due to the run rule. Maddie Moore had an impressive game, going 2-3 with 2 RBI’s and scoring a run. Pitcher Valerie Cagle was a standout performer, holding the visiting team scoreless for 4 innings and striking out 6 batters. Regan Spencer came in on relief to finish the job for the Tigers.
The strong performance from Game 1 carried over to Game 2, which took place on Wednesday night in front of a great crowd. Clemson started the game off with a bang, scoring two runs in the first inning thanks to a home run by Caroline Jacobsen, with Valerie Cagle scoring as well. In the fourth inning, Arielle Oda hit a single down the infield line to score Logoleo, and Reedy Davenport followed suit with another infield single to score Hyatt, making the score 4-1. Pitcher Millie Thompson was in top form, allowing just one run over 5 hits to earn the win for Clemson, bringing her season record to 6-0. Brooke McCubbin came in to close the game and earn the save for the Tigers.
The Clemson Softball team showed impressive dominance in both games of the series, with strong performances from multiple players. The home crowd provided a great atmosphere for the players, who were able to feed off of their energy and put in top-notch performances. The team will undoubtedly be looking to continue their winning ways in the coming games, building off of the momentum from this impressive series. Starting with a 3 game stretch this weekend against Syracuse.
