Clemson Tigers Split Action at USF Tournament in Tampa

The Clemson Tigers split action at the USF Tournament in Tampa, Florida, winning their first game against Michigan State and losing a hard-fought battle against No. 12/9 Tennessee. Clemson’s winning streak is now at 14-1.

Game 1 – Clemson Tigers vs. Michigan State (W, 4-1)

Clemson’s softball team faced Michigan State in their first game of the USF Tournament. The Tigers scored two runs in the top of the second inning and added another in the third, thanks to a solo home run from Caroline Jacobsen. Michigan State managed to score one run, but it wasn’t enough to catch up with the Tigers, who added another run in the seventh inning to win the game 4-1. Brooke McCubbin pitched a complete game for Clemson, with eight strikeouts and only allowing four hits.

Game 2 – Clemson Tigers vs. No. 12/9 Tennessee (L, 0-1)

Clemson’s second game was a tough one against the No. 12/9 ranked Tennessee Lady Vols. Both teams’ pitchers were in top form, allowing only one hit each in the first two innings. Clemson’s Valerie Cagle pitched a great game, striking out eight batters without giving up a walk. However, Tennessee managed to score a run in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Clemson wasn’t able to catch up, losing the game 0-1.
