Clemson Softball’s Valerie Cagle Earns Two ACC Honors in One Week

Clemson’s softball team had a phenomenal week, thanks in large part to their star player, Valerie Cagle. Cagle was named both the ACC’s Pitcher of the Week and Co-Player of the Week, an impressive feat for any athlete. This is Cagle’s third Pitcher of the Week honor and her fifth Player of the Week award, but it’s the first time she has achieved both in the same week.

Before diving into Cagle’s impressive performance, let’s learn a bit more about this talented athlete. Cagle is a redshirt junior who plays for Clemson’s softball team. She hails from Yorktown, Virginia, and has been a force to be reckoned with since her freshman year. In her time at Clemson, she has racked up numerous awards and accolades, cementing her status as one of the top players in the ACC.

Cagle’s performance last week was truly outstanding. She led the No. 5 Tigers to an undefeated 5-0 record, including wins over No. 14/11 Northwestern and Ohio State in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge. Cagle’s achievements for the week include:

  • ACC Pitcher of the Week – Week of 2.20.23 – 2.26.23
  • Co-Player of the Week – Week of 2.20.23 – 2.26.23
  • 5-0 record with one save
