The NFL announced that QB Trevor Lawrence has been selected for the 2023 Pro Bowl and will be replacing Patrick Mahomes. He will join WR Jamal Agnew at the Pro Bowl and is the 32nd player in franchise history to receive this honor. Lawrence is also the third quarterback in team history to be named to the Pro Bowl, following in the footsteps of Mark Brunell (1996, 1997, 1999) and David Garrard (2009).
During the 2022 regular season, Lawrence had a standout performance with 387 completions out of 584 attempts for 4,113 yards and 25 touchdowns. His 387 completions set a new franchise record, while his five rushing touchdowns tied the record set by David Garrard. He was one of three NFL players with 25+ passing touchdowns and 5+ rushing touchdowns, along with Joe Burrow and Josh Allen. In Week 14, he had a career-high 368 yards passing and was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
The second-year quarterback also had four 300-yard passing games and led three comebacks of 17 or more points, including a 27-0 deficit in the postseason against the Chargers. In the two postseason games, he completed 52 of 86 passes for 505 yards and five touchdowns. He threw for four touchdowns against the Chargers, becoming the youngest player in NFL history to achieve this feat in a playoff game.
The 2023 Pro Bowl will take place in Las Vegas starting on February 2 and will feature skills challenges for the players. The competition will culminate in an action-packed 7v7 NFC flag football game at Allegiant Stadium.
